They’re here! Europa is pleased to offer hand-painted paper mache Santas by Ino Schaller. Which is your favorite? In 1894 Carl Schaller started a company in his home in Germany to produce paper Christmas items. His paper mache candy containers that open from the bottom were exported to the United States by Woolworth’s and were popular in the U.S. in the early 20th century.
In the 1980s Thomas Schaller found his great grandfather’s candy container molds in the family’s attic. He and his father revived the craft of mold casting and pouring paper mache. These hand-painted candy containers were made using the original molds, and each is hand-signed by Thomas.
